Freeze Your Fat Away with CoolSculpting®
It’s no secret that Khloe Kardashian has done a full 180 in terms of diet and exercise. She took initiative and busted her butt to lose weight and build muscle without the help of any surgical procedures. Even through her pregnancy, she’s continued this health kick and maintained a healthy diet and doctor-approved workout plan. She’s also recently talked about a treatment called CoolSculpting that’s helped her get rid of her stubborn fat pockets (before her pregnancy of course).
CoolSculpting is famous for eliminating pinchable fat without surgery, needles, or downtime. Sounds too good to be true right? I thought so, so I did some investigating to understand more about this celebrity-recommended treatment.
How does it work?
Many people, even those who live a healthy lifestyle, struggle with fat bulges. According to board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. Enrique Silberblatt, CoolSculpting at his Roanoke, VA, practice utilizes precise cooling temperatures to eliminate unwanted fat cells from the body. Fat cells freeze at a higher temperature than skin cells, so the treatment can kill fat cells without harming the surrounding tissues. After freezing, the fat cells are naturally filtered out of the body by the lymphatic system over the course of a few months. Developed by 2 Harvard physicians, this revolutionary treatment can remove up to 25% of fat cells in a given area.
Is it safe?
CoolSculpting is FDA-cleared and clinically effective. Millions of procedures have been performed worldwide. Because it is non-invasive, there is little risk of complication.
What areas can it treat?
CoolSculpting is a versatile treatment that can address several different problem areas on your body including:
Inner and outer thighs
How long do results last?
When you lose weight, your fat cells get smaller, but can never be eliminated through traditional diet and exercise. However, CoolSculpting actually gets rid of these cells. Once fat cells leave the body, they cannot return. Because of this, CoolSculpting results can be permanent.
*Disclaimer: To maintain your results, you must also maintain a good diet and exercise because your remaining fat cells can continue to fluctuate in size.
What happens during a CoolSculpting session?
Your provider will first apply a special gel pad to protect your skin and distribute the low temperature evenly across the treatment area. The applicator is then positioned over the gel pad and begins to deliver cold energy. The whole process takes about an hour, so you can be in and out quickly. Since CoolSculpting doesn’t require any downtime, you can return to your normal daily activities immediately.
Does it hurt?
The treatment does not require any anesthesia. At first, you may feel an intense cold sensation. However, this feeling soon goes away as your treatment area becomes numb. Many people read, check email, or even nap during their appointment.
When will you see results?
Your results will gradually develop over the next few months. Many people are happy with their results after a single treatment, but it is not uncommon to opt for additional treatments.
After hearing about some of my favorite celebrities undergoing treatment and doing a little research of my own, I’m sold. CoolSculpting seems like an effective, easy, and safe way to finally get rid of my trouble spots. From everything I’ve read, it is a great option for people who already try to live a healthy lifestyle, but just need a little boost.
