Hey Fabs! It’s me…your girl Mona Nisa. I know it’s been a little while but I’m back with more beauty product reviews. I had to take a brief hiatus due to an allergic reaction I had while trying out a product (yikes!). I don’t ever want to bash a product or brand; however, I have to give my honest reviews. The opinions of this product are strictly based on my experience with it.
As mentioned in my bio, I have probably had an experience of all kinds when it comes to the health and wellness of my skin, particularly the skin on my face. I have worked very hard over the past 30 something years to get my face to be clear, soft and glowing. While scrolling through IG (Instagram) one evening, I noticed a post on the GLAMGLOW page for the Sonic Blue Gravity Mud. It was on its way out and the post urged me to get it while I can before it was gone forever.
ow, me being the sucker for all things beauty and makeup…I felt the immediate need to order this shiny blue mask with Sonic the Hedgehog on it. Why did I have to have it? I don’t know…I didn’t even play video games as a kid but I didn’t want to be the only person in the world without this limited-edition mask. Not to mention, it was only $19 @Sephora so I had to get it, right? I know it’s crazy talk, but that’s how I think sometimes...Don’t judge me. Needless to say, I ordered the shiny blue limited-edition mask from Sephora.com. It arrived a few days later. Although I hastily purchased this mask, I waited a few weeks before I decided to try it out. As usual, I was super excited to try this mask.
I saw so many people posting their shiny blue face all over Instagram and I couldn’t wait to do the same. I opened the (very small) package of the $19 GLAMGLOW Gravitymud Firming Treatment
and I applied the shiny blue mask with my trusty E.L.F foundation brush that I use to apply all of my face masks with. The mask glided smoothly across my skin leaving me looking like something out of the movie Avatar.
I waited the suggested 30 minutes (which is an unusually long time for a face mask) and I couldn’t wait to see how tight and firm my face would be after peeling off the mask. I peeled the mask off annnnndddd…nothing.
I wasn’t too impressed. I have fun applying the mask and removing it but I saw no improvement to the firmness or contour of my skin as the package claimed. With that, I considered this to be a product that just didn’t work for me and I carried on as usual. About 2 days later, started to notice that my face was unusually itchy and I had started to develop very fine bumps on my face. The next day, it was apparent that I had a full on allergic reaction and it was all over my face!
I knew exactly where the irritation came from…that shiny blue limited-edition GLAMGLOW Sonic the Hedgehog GravityMud Firming Treatment. The breakout was in the exact same outline as where the mask was on my face. It was the only new thing I had tried that week. After a few nights of Benadryl anda topical cream I got from the doctor, my face was back to normal…thank God!.
After that experience, I’m 100% sure that GLAMGLOW is not the brand for me. I was sad it didn’t work because I really wanted to try some of their other products. This is not to say that everyone will have the same experience I had, however, I think I will steer clear of this this brand and their products now that my skin is back to normal. If you choose to try this product or any other product of this brand, learn from my mistakes. I highly recommend testing it on a small portion of your face, maybe under the jawline. That way you can see if you have a sensitivity to the product before it affects your entire face. It didn’t affect me for about 2 days so it would wait 2 days from your test before going full force with the entire face.
Until next time fabs…Keep glowing!
